Gel-X vs Acrylic in Brickell: Which Set to Book and What It Costs
Gel-X and acrylic both add length, but they are different sets. At Neo Nails & Day Spa, 426 SW 8th St, Gel-X is Après: a soft-gel tip. Acrylic is a harder set that can be filled as it grows out. Here is how to choose, what each costs on our menu, and what to say when you book. The service pages are Gel-X in Brickell and acrylic nails in Brickell.
The short answer
- Starting fresh and want length without a heavy set: Gel-X.
- Already wearing acrylic and it has grown out: an acrylic fill.
- Want strength on your own nail, not extra length: an acrylic overlay, or a structured / builder gel manicure ($59).
What Gel-X is
Gel-X here is Après, a soft-gel tip applied as a new set. It is not a sculpted acrylic. People book it when they want length without a heavy set: extra short for a natural look, medium or large if they want the tip to show. Après is also available on toes.
What acrylic is
Acrylic is the harder set. Book a full set if you are new to it, changing shape, or the old set is too grown or broken. Book a fill if you already have acrylic on and it has grown out. The polish on top can be regular or UV gel. An overlay is acrylic on your own nail for strength, not extra length. We also do acrylic on toes.

Switching between them
If you wear acrylic now and want Gel-X, the acrylic comes off first with a soak-off, so the visit runs longer. If you are happy with your acrylic and only need maintenance, stay on acrylic and book a fill. Either way, tell us what is on your nails when you book so the chair has time for it.
How long it lasts
We do not promise a set number of weeks for either one. Wear depends on your nails, the length and the finish you choose, and on aftercare. Do not pick or peel either set, and come in if a nail lifts instead of pulling it off. For gel finishes in Miami heat and water, read our gel aftercare notes.

We are at 426 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33130, open Monday to Saturday 10am to 8:30pm and Sunday 11am to 7pm, with complimentary parking during your service. Walk-ins are welcome. Longer Gel-X lengths and acrylic full sets take more time, and weekends fill first, so book online or call 305.306.8888 if you need a set time.

How much is Gel-X at Neo Nails?
Gel-X (Après) is $75 for extra short or short, $85 medium, $95 large, $105 extra large and $115 extra extra large. Après on toes is $85.
How much is an acrylic full set or fill?
An acrylic fill is from $54 with regular polish or from $59 with gel. A full set is from $74 with regular polish or from $84 with gel. An overlay is from $69. Shape, length and art change the total.
Can I switch from acrylic to Gel-X?
Yes. Switching to Gel-X means a soak-off first, so tell us when you book. If you want to keep your acrylic and only need a fill, stay on acrylic.
Can I walk in for Gel-X or acrylic?
Yes, walk-ins are welcome. Longer Gel-X lengths and acrylic full sets take more time, and weekends fill first, so request a time if you need one.
